We held three breakfasts in 2011, in February, May and July (the fourth was replaced by a garage sale!)

Our speaker in February was Dr Pamela Schultz whose address was titled "Life, Linguistics and a Faith Journey. Click here to read the slides that accompanied her talk. Her book published in 2010 is called "Courts and Judges on Trial: Analysing and Managing the Discourses of Disapproval" (2010), Lit Verlag Berlin Londond and New York. Dr Schulz is a part time lecturer in Post Graduate Studies in Communications at the University of South Australia, available at Unibooks.com.au or WH Smith & Co Booksellars.

In May, our guest speaker was Mr Peter Lines who spoke on Colour, Culture and Climbing in Nepal. Peter Lines has competed 25 times in the toughest one-day endurance event in the world, the Ironman Triathlon. He has a passion for rock and mountain climbing, built a successful multi-disciplined business (Accounting, Financial Planning, Lending and Insurance) and uses the rest of his time to pass on his formula for success. In October last year, Peter successfully climbed a mountain in Nepal called 'Ama Dablam.' In an expedition of 9 members, only Peter and 2 others were able to reach the summit. Peter will talk about that climb, as well as the colour and culture of Nepal.

In July, our guest speaker was Mr Peter Burke, and the theme was "Breakfast in July." A Christmas breakfast was served and Peter spoke of the work of Anglicare SA. Peter has been involved in social work and in 1980 helped established the St Mark’s Community Centre in Fitzroy, Victoria, which still provides material aid and drop-in centre facilities for low income and socially isolated people. From 1984-1990, Peter was employed by the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne to encourage the development of parish community work. From 1991-1997, he was employed by Ecumenical Housing, a Commission of the Victorian Council of Churches. Over these years, Peter retained a commitment to the ministry of the Anglican Church in the Diocese of Melbourne through inner city parishes, Diocesan Synod and the Social Responsibilities Committee. Peter also completed a Bachelor of Theology through the Melbourne College of Divinity in 1997. In January 1998, Peter moved to Adelaide to become Manager of The Magdalene Centre, a cooperative venture between three Anglican city churches and Anglicare SA. In 2005  he became the Coordinator of Chaplaincy and Parish Community Work for Anglicare SA.

Peter is a parishioner at St Mary Magdalene’s Anglican Church, Adelaide; a member of Adelaide Diocesan Synod; the Adelaide Diocese Church in Society Ministry Unit; a Lay Nominator for the Adelaide Diocese (assisting with clergy appointments); a member of the Executive of the South Australian Council of Churches; a member of Anglicare Willochra; a member of the Church to Church Committee of the Anglican Board of Mission, Australia; the Convener of the Chaplaincy and Parish Community Work Network of Anglicare Australia; and event coordinator and member of the Adelaide Benefit Concert Choir, an ecumenical community choir.

Peter is the author of Taking the Towel – a guide to parish community work in Australia, published in 1991, and several publications in the area of housing and homelessness, parish community work, mission and pastoral care. Most recent publications include Wellness at Work (2008) and Pray and reflect with us (2010), both published by Anglicare SA.
