NB about Thanksgiving Prayer No. 5
The files marked 'Thanksgiving No. 5' are a "through composed" arrangements of Thanksgiving Prayer No. 5 from A Prayer Book of Australia, 1995. This thanksgiving prayer has frequent responses for the congregation, and therefore, lends itself to allowing the music to continue while the celebrant speaks.
Before attempting this in worship, the following hints may help:
- Play the keyboard part as softly as possible while the celebrant is speaking, so as not to cover the celebrant's voice. Ideally the celebrant's voice will be amplified.
- Only attempt this version when you and the celebrant are rehearsed and confident.
- When accompanying, always follow the celebrant (and not the other way round). You will need to feel confident enough to improvise or skip bars as required.
- A choir or cantor will help the congregation know when to come in.
